Chapter 10

Gothic Development: England, and Germany

Gothic Development in England and Germany provides the development of fan vaults in England, beginning with the Cathedral of Winchester, then to London, and its Westminster Abbey, where we shall view the unique Stone Pendants in the adjoining Chapel of Henry the Seventh. In Germany we shall discuss the history of the city of Cologne, and its settlement by retiring Roman legionnaires, and ascend the heights of the Cathedral. From there we will proceed to Ulm on the Danube, and explore its Gothic Munster, with the highest church tower in the world.
